Increase Pagerank™

These days there are a lot of discussions about Google Pagerank™, its effects on ranking and the ways to increase it in most of webmaster forums. There are some people saying it has nothing to do with ranking while some others believe that it highly affects the search result and point it as an important factor for SEO.

The fact is that Pagerank is a symbol of effective and quality incoming links and the way to improve it is to get other sites, link to yours but Google will not put the same weight on all the links your site may receive.

Increasing pagerank and link popularity is really easy but it can end up hundreds of dollars with a big disappointment if you don’t know where to advertise and what to do.

Obviously its about Links and most likely text links but you should note that some quality links from related sites are highly effective while some others doesn’t add any value to your site.(Some people believe they can have even negative effect but I highly disagree.) for example an arcade website can’t be a good host for link to a mortgage website.

When ordering a link keep the following tips in mind:

  1. Is there any content on the page you are getting link from ?
  2. What is the subject of the page your link is going to be on. Is it related to your site?
  3. How many other external links are on the same page as yours. Less is better. If there are lots of external links that page may be considered as spam and there will be no value for those links.
  4. What is the Pagerank of the site you are getting links from ? Higher is better as there is a very small value to the links you get from Pr 0,1 or 2 websites.
  5. If purchasing links in bulk from different domains, be sure that they are in different IP address ranges because Google may consider all as single source of spam and will not count them so my experience showed max of 5 sites per IP seem fine.
  6. Anchor text is a part of the link that tells Google what your site is about. This way Google makes a relation between your site and the keyword used in Anchor Text, so avoid using “Click Here” as the link and try to use a small but effective keyword.
  7. More related content around your link, less spammy it looks like and more weight will be passed to your site, so links between actual content seem more useful than links on sidebar under “links” section.

I personally prefer my links to be on weblogs as they get spidered more often and I would really enjoy if I could get my link within a blog post on a pageranked blog ! And I believe this is the best way to Increase Pagerank and Link Popularity specially when there are several high pagerank blogs in different IP ranges, hosting your article containing 3 links to your site with your own chosen anchor texts, permanently!

  2. Page rank is overated. I have see many low ranked sites comind in top of search engines because content is relevant. Links to your domain is of course good, but good content will drive more traffic.
